Frequently asked questions
Does this tool generate or assign my UDI-DI?
No. This tool encodes your existing UDI data into barcode symbols (DataMatrix, GS1-128, QR Code) for use on medical device labels. Your UDI-DI (GTIN) must be previously assigned by a GS1-accredited issuing agency and registered in EUDAMED before using this tool. If you don't have a UDI-DI yet, contact your national GS1 member organisation.
Is this tool officially certified?
No. It generates GS1-compliant barcode structures following the Application Identifier definitions and MDR Annex VI requirements. Your final UDI must be validated as part of your technical documentation and QMS process.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once downloaded, the file runs entirely in your browser with no internet connection needed. Your data never leaves your device.
What if I need to generate hundreds of codes?
The batch mode accepts a CSV file and exports all codes as a ZIP archive, with optional HRI labels for each one.
Can I use it on multiple computers?
